A Hands-On Guide to Leading Edge Hardware

Project Overview

With crowdfunding beginning to takeoff on platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, and manufacturing costs hitting record lows, more and more interesting hardware projects were starting to be made available to consumers at a record pace.

It was an interesting time watching consumers throw money behind projects they found interesting. There was a level of intrigue and feelings of excitement as investors got early access to news, add-ons, and more. At the same time, for me and my co-founder, we were excited but skeptical. There was no guarantee a product would ship or even work. We launched The Last Machine with the goal of gaining access to these crowdfunded projects and testing them in and out of their intended environments, at the earliest stage in their adoption, to give investors a level of assurance of what they should expect, and call-out innovation that was daring and well executed.

My Contributions

  1. Co-founded the project interviewing founders, creators, and engineers to hear and tell their story.

  2. Wrote copy, shot, edited and produced video and photo content.

  3. Grew followers through SEO and marketing campaigns across social media platforms.
